Nicole Cooper's figurative oil paintings explore the emotions surrounding climate change, using vibrant colors, energetic brushwork, and the human form to foster connection and inspire action. Her compositions emphasize interwoven figures, open eyes for awareness, and outstretched hands for intent, reflecting the idea of Active Hope. By blending the human form with elemental landscapes, she highlights our deep interdependence with nature and the continuous flow of life across generations.

 

A dedicated advocate for climate awareness, Cooper is active in renewable energy and community-building initiatives like Climate Imaginarium and Climate Cafés. She explores how fear, grief, and hope influence action, encouraging resilience and deeper engagement. Through painting and teaching, she creates space for reflection, inspiring agency in shaping a just, sustainable future.

 

Cooper holds a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and attended the Yale Norfolk School of Art Summer Residency. A trained Climate Café facilitator, she leads workshops on climate engagement through art. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Angad Arts Hotel, Fontbonne University Fine Art Gallery, and the Schmidt Art Center, as well as in group shows in New York and St. Louis. She curates with the Climate Imaginarium on Governors Island, NY, and her work has been featured in USA Today.
